The Regional Union of Municipalities of the South Aegean (PED South Aegean) is funded in accordance with the institutional framework governing the operation of Regional Unions of Municipalities.

Its financial resources come mainly from the Central Autonomous Resources (KAP), which are allocated by decisions of the Ministry of the Interior to cover the operating needs of the Regional Unions of Municipalities and the Central Union of Municipalities of Greece (KEDE).

In addition, within the scope of its responsibilities and in accordance with the legislation in force, PED South Aegean may take part in the implementation of national and European programmes, develop partnerships with public and private bodies, and make use of any other lawful source of funding that serves its statutory objectives.

The Union’s financial management is based on the principles of legality, transparency, sound financial management and accountability, in accordance with the institutional framework governing local government bodies.
